"I glide across rolling clouds and ponder what my astronomer friend told me, that in those mysterious moments before the Big Bang there was no beginning, no tuning up the orchestra, only a featureless simplicity, a stretch of emptiness more vast than a hundred billion Wyoming skies!
By chance this quantum vacuum blipped as if a bar towel had been snapped, and resulted in a cosmic plasma that fluctuated into and out of existence, finally moving in the direction of life!" (Duality).

We need to be more like ants!  Let us get more 'in step' with Nature.
How arrogant the human species, killing ourselves in the process!
Our egos out of control, the Devil projected elsewhere!  And yet it's US, ALL OF US, that is the problem!
If we can't overcome ourselves, we will go extinct, then will never have been 'hear' at all!  A flame extinguished!  The definition of tragedy!

"It's September (northern Wyoming, U.S.A.).  Sun light on the wane. There is no fresh green breast of earth to embrace.  None of that!  Just to breathe is a kind of violence against death (Duality).  Not breathing (Singularity), longing for love (what is that?')  To have experienced passion's deep pleasure, even once, is to understand the mercilessness of having a human body -- whose memory rides desire's back! (Nature's Joke!)"
The challenge of human life is to get control of the ego, or suffer 'the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune!'
You choose...

So high in the sky?

Primavera is 'hear'

Yet, everything is in the process of
Reversing,

From ISLANDS, THE UNIVERSE, HOME by Gretel Ehrlich
pp. 66:
" I listen to my mind switch from logic (?) to intuition (?), from tree to net, the one unbalancing the other so no dictatorships can stay."
The ego is the 'dictator,' until you get control of it.  Also, what is your definition of the following English words:
logic?
intuition?
They might mean something quite different to Gretel Ehrlich.

"'An island, then, can stand for all that occurs between thoughts, feathers, fingerprints, and lives, although like the space between tree branches and leaves, for example, it is part of how a thing is shaped!'  Without that space, trees, rooms, ducks, and imaginations would collapse."
Note, 'space' is the opposite of what…?  Maybe 'know' 'Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and 'Time.''
pp.65-66:
"To separate out thoughts into islands is the peculiar way we humans have of knowing something (comparison).  In the process we locate and name ourselves.  We string events into temporal arrangements like pearls or archipelagos."
Note this is Duality.
The challenge is to get beyond (while having a body)!

(This an example of the white man's stupidity, and why we're in such a mess now!)
"Native americans used the Yellowstone area for ten thousand years (maybe longer).  They knew fires were Nature's way of cleansing, renewing the earth.  The U.S. Forest Service's policy was fire suppression.  With our racism intact and an obsession with what is new, they though nothing useful could be learned from their (Native Americans) 'old ways.'
Native Americans, the Takarika (sheep-eaters), among others had been expelled from the Park in 1882.  This ten years after inception.  It was thought they would scare tourists away.
If the fires had been allowed to burn, Indian style, all along, we might not be running into what is fast becoming a single holocaustal fire.
Nature and culture.  How confused we've become!  Being human we're a part of Nature, as well as, culture makers. Yet the messy, living, vital inter-connections elude us still.

"Now summer's supine sky appears to be sealed when it is not.  The Myth of inviolability, the idea that no force could shred skin from our faces, implies a refusal to believe we can cause harm!  At the end of this evening's news we were given updates on the holes in the Ozone, as if now we were tossing bombs and bayonets upward, tearing the skin of the sky.
I try to unwind one thread from these enormous catastrophes all the way back to my heart, to any human heart, to see if anywhere along the way an instinct for care exists?  (Note, yes it exists, but dormant now rising with female energy -- there's hope!).  What shocks me so is the detachment with which we dispense destruction -- not just the bombs, but blows to the earth, the populations of insects, plants, and animals.  To our fellow man, to one another, we kill with senseless betrayal!
The proposed solution  (from the unimaginative) is always mechanical (technology is going to save us!).   This, as if, we could fabricate the health of the Planet the way we make a new computer!"
"August 7:  I walk to the lake in the morning.  My blue canoe is loose.  Blue, the color of the Ozone, that poisonous, explosive gas made from one too many oxygen atoms.  I watch the boat glide, smoothing out hard angles of light on water, recutting them as if to say the possibility still exists, if only we could direct our lives so that peace, which can only be achieved by peaceful means, could be embedded like garden seeds in our action, ideas and goals!"
Wow, all I can exclaim is another 'wow!'  Thank you Gretel, for being so articulate about the problem, the challenge humanity faces.
It's the lack of conocimieto that causes us to 'kill with senseless betrayal!'
We're both not, and am, hopeful about humanity.  One reason, the 'Age of The Guan Yin has begun!'

If I dice life into atoms, the trajectories I find are so wild, so random, anything could happen:  life or non-life.  But, once we have a body (ego) who can give it up easily?  Our own or others?  We check our clocks and build our beautiful narratives  under which indeterminacy seethes."
Basically, this means we live on our illusions!  That the ego constructs what we need that sustains us in a world full of fear.
To be human, is to be given an opportunity, most don't even know about. Think we're random…?

Four years ago, Angela Stimpson agreed to donate a kidney to a complete stranger.

"The only thing I knew about my recipient was that she was a female and she lived in Bakersfield, Calif.," Stimpson says.

It was a true act of altruism — Stimpson risked pain and suffering to help another. So why did she do it? It involved major surgery, her donation was anonymous, and she wasn't paid.

"At that time in my life, I was 42 years old. I was single, I had no children," Stimpson says. "I loved my life, but I would often question what my purpose is."

i

When she read about the desperate need for kidneys, Stimpson, a graphic artist who lives in Albany, N.Y., says she found her purpose. She now blogs about her experience and encourages others to become donors.

People like Stimpson are "extraordinary altruists," according to Abigail Marsh. She's an associate professor of psychology at Georgetown University and one of the country's leading researchers into altruism.

Marsh herself was the beneficiary of extraordinary altruism when she was 20. She got into a freak highway accident and ended up stalled in the fast lane facing oncoming traffic. A man dodged traffic to come to her aid and help get her car started. He saved her life, she says, then disappeared before she could ask his name.

Marsh wanted to know more about this type of extraordinary altruism, so she decided to study the brains of people who had donated a kidney to a stranger. Of the 39 people who took part in the study, 19 of them, including Angela Stimpson, were kidney donors.

Marsh took structural images to measure the size of different parts of their brains and then asked the participants to run through a series of computer tests while their brains were being scanned using functional MRI. In one test, they were asked to look at pictures of different facial expressions, including happiness, fear, anger, sadness and surprise.

Most of the tests didn't find any differences between the brains of the altruistic donors and the people who had not been donors. Except, Marsh says, for a significant difference in a part of the brain called the amygdala, an almond-shaped cluster of nerves that is important in processing emotion.

Shots - Health News
What Makes You Feel Fear?
The amygdala was significantly larger in the altruists compared to those who had never donated an organ. Additionally, the amygdala in the altruists was extremely sensitive to the pictures of people displaying fear or distress.

These findings are the polar opposite to research Marsh conducted on a group of psychopaths. Using the same tests as with the altruists, Marsh found that psychopaths have significantly smaller, less active amygdalas. More evidence that the amygdala may be the brain's emotional compass, super-sensitive in altruists and blunted in psychopaths, who seem unresponsive to someone else's distress or fear."

Everyone wants to know what sexual intercourse is like in a weightless environment, nee the International Space Station (where there are male and female astronauts now).  Hey, it takes almost one year to fly the almost 600 million miles to Mars.
In the Hollywood version, 'Gravity' (starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock), not wanting to alienate any audience (less money), the leads (astronauts) are thoroughly professional (robots), the male character (George Clooney) sacrificing himself for the female character (Sandra Bullock).  She surviving disaster, waking up on the beach/Earth, was it all just a dream?
Hollywood movies are designed to make money not enlighten us!  In fact, they dumb us down!  Producers don't want enlightened audiences (as they aren't easily manipulated like the 'stupados').
People don't want their illusions shattered, it's how they have built 'there' lives!   Thus, Hollywood gives them what they want, a story (lives up to our expectations)!  Jesus gave us parables (frustrating our expectations).
Most people don't understand A. Einstein's statement that, IMAGINATION IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN KNOWLEDGE!  We create our worlds from our minds!
The greater the imagination, the greater the life!
Get creative!  Live to the fullest.  Don't just be a robotic consumer, staring at a small screen all day long!

People confuse death with loss, when it's actually gain!  We should mourn birth and celebrate death!
People think this reality the only thing, when just the opposite.  We are but a nit on a flea, riding on the back of an elephant!
The importance of this reality ('the land of good and bad')?  To add to the total or 'the Other!'  Of course, there's Sogyal Rinpoche's purpose, which basically means the same thing, to fulfill our potential, to become, not mimic. So many of us miss the opportunity, enslaved by our God money!
No pain, no gain, in Duality.  To suffer, the lesson of Jesus, is to learn, to develop compassion for others!
Stop and ask yourselves if you are happy with your lives?  Be honest!  If not, follow the way of the warrior, risk!  Overcome your fear!  Be brave!  'Die gamely!'  Aaron Burr advised.  Dare to be who you really are, not what society wants, a robotic consumer (enslaved by screens)!

What will you remember of me, when I've 'shed the body' and you think 'gone,' or 'passed away?'
I love the euphemistic phrase, 'passed away,' because we don't like 'died' or 'dead,' too final!  But, the word 'final,' suggests a beginning, a the start of something. What is its opposite?
Our bodily existence is Duality, but beyond there's no 'final,' as no beginning.  It's inexplicable, a poor word that 'struts and frets its hour upon the stage, then never heard of again!'

There were angry scenes in Glasgow on Friday night as a group of young pro-union supporters clashed with pro-independence supporters who had been gathering in George Square throughout the day.

Police acted to separate a small group of pro-independence supporters, who had been gathering in George Square throughout the day, from a group of skinheads believed to have marched from the loyalist pub the Louden Tavern in nearby Duke Street.

Individuals argued over the referendum result and a chorus of Rule Britannia was countered by the Scottish anthem, Flower of Scotland.

As the evening wore on, and the yes supporters dispersed, more loyalists converged on the square, many of them draped in union flags.

A number were teenagers, and clearly drunk. At one point a section of the crowd broke through police lines and marched up the central shopping area of Buchanan Street, chanting the words to Rule Britannia. Some shouted loyalist slogans and racist abuse, and appeared to make Nazi salutes.

The subway station at the top of Buchanan Street was temporarily closed, as police herded the marchers back towards the square. As mounted police attempted to contain the crowd, flares were thrown.

Sam Tonks, an engineer from Uddingston, said he had driven into the city with his wife and daughter because he wanted to celebrate the referendum victory with other no supporters, but had been greeted by something much uglier.

"It's on both sides," he said. "The city is divided by religion already and to be honest I think the union jacks and saltires are a bit of an excuse."

By midnight last night, according to Police Scotland, three arrests had been made. Late on Friday, the Police Scotland Twitter account reported: "3 people arrested so far re incident in George Sq. Retrospective enquiries will be carried out which may lead to further arrests."

I have this idea to dissolve out of modern madness (no Internet, TV, motor traffic, etc.) and into something more tranquil, like Nature!

All the time people tell me I should write an autobiography.  I am online.  This 'Blok!'
The following popped into my mind the other day, one wonders how it works… RAMemory, the monkey mind…
The scene was the first time I visited the giant Stupa at Boudhanath (in Kathmandu, Nepal) -- 1998.  I was with the Rayamadjis, my host family in Kathmandu.  They were driving out to a private University to visit their daughter.  They dropped me off at the main gate, the traffic crazy snarling in the busy area: motor vehicles, bicycles, pedestrians, carts, dogs, even an occasional elephant, screaming, yelling, honking madness!
First there were beggars, women with children hands out. I had little background in such, their aggressiveness, it was all fascinatingly new,
Then as the corridor opened to the plaza, sensory overload. Suddenly I was transformed into the world of Tibetan Buddhism, the giant white stupa looming over me.  Women had butter lamp offerings on portable tables (you paid to have them light one, a blessing).  I can't remember if I did or not, probably not, as I didn't understand.  But, I do remember circling this huge reliquary (a structure where they bury the remains of saints), small prayer wheels in a recess which devotees spun with their hands, as the same time chanting:  OM MANI PADME AUM!
There were giant prayer wheels as well, these housed in the stupa itself.  Buddhist monks seemed to be in charge of spinning these as so heavy.
What impressed me, made me feel at home (so far from), was the authenticity of it all..  This was no Hollywood back lot deal.  This was real; exciting!
I walked around the Stupa hearing the chanting, the drums, the chimes, a kaleidoscope of crimson robes, people prostrating themselves on special pallets.  I lost track of where I was exactly, suddenly in a Bollywood movie.
Most of the stores, restaurants were closed by not all.  But, at the same time there was a constant stream of people accosting you, selling something.  Religion and commerce, they seem to go hand in hand.
I remember 'The Stupa View' restaurant, actually two of these both fighting for the name as well as the view.  I think the second one called itself 'The New Stupa View Restaurant.'  You climbed four or five flights of stairs to sit out in a roof-top garden to sip Nepali (Chai) tea, have lunch.
I remember so much now, climbing all over the Stupa, arguing with Marina about something.  Then the honeymoon nights (with Marina), beginning with dinner upstairs, overlooking the Stupa.  Truly, a 'Hollywood romance!'
What a time those first two years in Kathmandu where the wildest dreams are merely facts!  The city is ancient, maybe 1,000 years old!
Bolivia, where we are now reminds me of Nepal a bit, but not as exotic.   Bolivia is more western of course, Spanish and Catholicism.  But, the two countries have a connection!  In fact, Bolivia is called the 'Tibet' of South America.

"How would Willian de Courcey, by some thought experiment visiting the world today, recognize those self-same (ego) conflicts and sorrows which marred his world.  What made his world such a dangerous and, ultimately for him, a fatal place.  He would, I suspect, say that much has remained the same, even if we have put some of the agents of division and intolerance to flight, there is still much evidence of their work among us."  Note, the U.K. and Scotland in 2014.
"Here in this place of learning (life) let us remember the possibility of combating such, those divisions between man and man, woman and woman, man and woman, man and child.  We need to recognize in each other the same weaknesses that make us all human, so that me might somehow create some contentment in our lives, and the lives of others.  For what else is there for us to hope for?  What else, I ask you, what else?"
H.

P.S.  It seems to us that mankind hopes for the wrong thing.  What we should hope for is progress in gaining consciousness (evolution). For herein lies the secret for the survival of mankind (of life on planet Earth).

" Mathew Gurevitsch smiled.  'Thank you.  'll Trovatore' is to opera nothing less than what 'Oedipus Rex' is to spoken drama:  the revelation of the soul of tragedy in its purest form!  In both, ancient secrets unravel, devastating the innocent along with the guilty.  But, then, who is innocent?"
Again, this seems to make our point about words… How we create our wor(l)ds with words!  What does the English word 'innocent' mean?  I suppose opposite of 'guilty!'   Who is, and isn't, this is subjective!
But, the value of such is in the discussion!
"In the tragic no-man's land between reason and unreason, the great crime is to have been born, would you not agree?'  No, does not Duality offers choices? The question, is there Free Will?  We think 'knot!'   Do we have the opportunity to improve our souls, become more conscious?  Where else, but?  We don't 'no!'
We're sure there's a 'waiting list' for bodies (for Duality).
So many people, however, they just don't get it!  'They don't know that they don't know,' Dick once described this as what it's like to be unconscious.

Jan,
Re:  The Tibetan train trip (Xining to Lhasa)
You mentioned you'd like this, thus your need to 'save your pennies!'  But, it isn't money you need, but the courage to try.  'Saving pennies,' is just a way of putting it in the future that never happens!
You'd be shocked to know how little money I had when I departed C.S., January, 2005.
In Europe, I camped (in the cold rain), ate out of food markets, and MacDonald's (open early and cheap).  But, I was blessed (by Phyllis Rock):  THE LIGHT IS WITH YOU, THE LIGHT IS WITHIN YOU!
One day in a train station in Germany a woman walked up and handed me $50U.S. in cash.  I was stunned.
The 'pennies' you need to save aren't material, but spiritual.  They are the faith to try, poor, naked, going like Jesus, or in your case Buddha (Shakumani Gautama).
Make a pilgrimage of the trip to meet the Dalai Lama.  You can put a khata (greeting scarf) around his neck.  All you need is the courage to try.

Our very same point, and that's why we're not particularly sanguine about the survival of mankind.  We have, in our opinion, actually gone backwards, the masses 'dumbed-down' by Capitalism. It will take Divine Intervention to save us (from ourselves, ironically).   'Butt' this is not impossible, there's still hope!  Especially as the old Patriarchy dies out, and Female Energy takes over (The Age of The Guan Yin)!   This cycle-period, more creating and less destroying!

Sally,
Our father didn't reject us, he rejected himself!  It's another story of a man trapped in marriage.  And dealing with some failure in business.
It's Nature's Joke on mankind, this 'desire' to perpetuate the species:  sex, babies, children, the tender trap.  Women prefer, as made for such, but men, different, just good for the seed, and not necessarily interested in, 'to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part.'
Too potent to be satisfied by just one woman, our father sought others (to our mother's dismay).
Four children, no divorce, 'He got out the back Jack, and made a new plan!' (Paul Simon).   He couldn't overcome his ego, the 'I.' (90% of the world's population don't).
They say before the Gods kill you they drive you insane!  Such is the case with artists and/or the creative mind (our father).  You can't create without destroying!
And so was our father's story (committing suicide, basically).  Note, I'm sure part of this had to do with the 'Act of God,' in Portuguese Bend;  losing the house, the money, feeling a failure, etc.
Our Mother… simply, she loved our father too much, gave too much, didn't save enough for herself.  Yet, her children (us) are the beneficiaries of her great love.  it destroyed her, but created us in the process.
When I think of our earthly parents, I think of our Mother first.
Love,
F.

P.S.  Together, and all the 'genes' behind them they gave us strong bodies.

"von Igelfeld thought for a moment.  Historical speculation of this sort was unprofitable.  There was little point is thinking about that soldier who had prevented the spear from killing Alexander the Great, and thus saved Western Civilization.  If he had not done so and the Persians had conquered the Greeks, what then?  He stopped himself.  It was unthinkable the Institute itself might not have existed and yet it was quite possible, had history been different.
Ultimately, we are all at the mercy of chance.  All our schemes and enterprises are dependent on the whim of fate;  as had been the outcome of that decisive naval battler when England defeated the Spanish Armada, because the wind changed direction."
Do people believe this?  What is fate?  Or, like the 'Fatalists,' believe, is there a 'script' already written for each one of us, and that we merely 'strut and fret' our hour upon 'the boards?'  Poor actors!

Jan,
About this word, 'karma.'  It means something to you…
Here's what www.dictionary.com says about the word 'karma:'

'karma'
noun
1.
Hinduism, Buddhism. action, seen as bringing upon oneself inevitable results, good or bad, either in this life or in a reincarnation: in Hinduism one of the means of reaching Brahman.
Compare bhakti (def 1), jnana.
2.
Theosophy. the cosmic principle according to which each person is rewarded or punished in one incarnation according to that person's deeds in the previous incarnation.
3.
fate; destiny.
Synonyms: predestination, predetermination, lot, kismet.
4.
the good or bad emanations felt to be generated by someone or something:
'Lets get out of here. This place has bad karma.'

Which definition is yours?
To me it means, simply, what you 'sow' you will 'reap!'
And thus the U.S.-culture suffering, in my opinion.  We have 'sown' much unhappiness in the world, and thus…
What to do?  Change our ways!  Change our ways, and fast, or the 'ship' is going to sink!
'Karma!'
H.

P.S.  If you're living there in the U.S. and have invested your lives in U.S. culture, I understand why you have to think as you do… 'Karma!'

15b0914 BLOK

"'The after life must surely be as Dante described it.' said von Igelfeld. 'And one's position in the what circle will determine the company one keeps.'
The Master's eyes sparkled, 'Or, the other way round, surely.  The company one keeps will determine where one goes later on… Bad company, bad fate!'"
No, the Master is wrong!  Who determines what is 'bad,' and what is 'good?'  Each always seeking the other!  What is 'bad' to some is 'good' to others, and vice versa.  What makes you so sure you are 'good,' and the company is 'bad?'  Maybe there's something in the relationship you need to learn.
English words are 'toys,' we play with, creating our wor(l)ds in the process!  This to feel safe and secure, when we are anything 'butt!'

Yes, you can stay home and avoid living, really living!  That is, if you have the gift of seeing 'the world in a grain of sand.'  (William Blake) I'm the kind that wants to partake of many different kinds of sand, all over the world!
"'We cannot always choose the company we are obliged to keep!' said the Master.  'Even in heaven, I suspect, we shall have to put up with some people whom we might not have chosen to spend eternity with.'"

A synopsis:
The title:  WIDE WORLD OF WAR!
The entire story, before, during, and after a SUPRA BOWL BEYOND SUPRA BOWLS -  A FIGHT TO DEATH,
CHRISTIAN-JUDEOS VERSUS MOSLEMS (males and female combatants)!
THE WINNER (one combatant still standing, alive) gets to choose which God the world will worship from now on, all the others destroyed (and punished)!
But, there are rules for this 'game,' referees, umpires, instant replay.  In the stands popcorn vendors ply their trade upon the decadent masses screaming their hearts out for their 'team!'
The Moslem cheerleaders dressed from head to toe, only one eye allowed.  This, of course, makes doing stunts challenging, but they continue to cheer their Moslem masters on to win!
The Christian cheerleaders, in bikini underwear, leaving little to the imagination (close ups, of course!!
Who wins, how, why and where?  Stay tuned to another exciting episode of 'FLASH GORDON; or sex in the locker rooms!'  Will he survive or not? Will he save the enslaved damsel from evil?  Will good triumph over evil?
Stay tuned,
And don't forget to send in three box tops for your magic space decoder ring!

I remember whizzing around Xining, Qinghai Province, China, on my bicycle, Senor Fetes!  The traffic massive, but not as aggressive as in South America.  Note here we're all 'macho' (大男子主) males!  But, they love to honk their horns in China as well!
I flashed on a street full of food stalls, this on the way to Mama Mia's (Cathy Song's) Italian restaurant.  Where I had my favorite sandwich, soup and apple pie (or chocolate cake).  I miss your food, Cathy!
I flash on the train ride to Lhasa, Tibet.  We drove some of the route to Golmud and back (ah, such luxury riding in a motor vehicle). We had left Mr. Zhu, and one other (?) to safe guard all of our gear.  This being at a truck stop (forget the name?) where G109 meets S308.  I'll never forget arriving as we had come through a blinding rain storm (remember Xutan?).  Luckily, waiting at the junction for the others, the sun came out and I was saved.  But, pretty primitive this little way station out in the middle of Qinghai Province.
But, Golmud, an entirely different story.  We stayed in a luxurious hotel, R&R, and repairing bicycles for one week.  I cycled around Golmud, and something like my own hometown, Tucson, Arizona, as right on the edge of a vast desert.  The town, roads, etc. stop and the desert begins, 'bingo!'
Back in 'shit town,' Xutan and I camped in a construction site, on concrete, this to block the north wind.
The next day our group cycled off south on our way to Lhasa, Tibet.  To get to Everest Base Camp (second goal) you cycle over six 5Kmt. passes!  I don't know how I did it, except for all the help I got from my Chinese friends.
The bitch was getting up to Everest Base Camp, on a dirt road.  But, I remember arriving and feeling triumphant!  You get stronger!
There we had to camp on rocks, but seeing Mt. Everest revealed, the clouds parting, a memorable event!  I think we took a hundred fotos.!
But, the challenge of cycling to Mt. Kailas, came next… And, oh…

Cycling Sundays..
I sat in the sun at Hotel Aranjuez, enjoying reading my book (GABRIELA, CLOVE AND CINNAMON).  At the next table another reader, an overweight woman with blond hair.
I don't eat breakfast at the Hotel Aranjuez, but provide it libre to guests that show up (hoping to motivate them to get on a bicycle).  But, only Darrell showed up later this day.  But, no cyclists including Edgar…
Cochabamba not really a cycling city, as too dangerous and the people basically lazy (so many fat women)!   But, then again obesity a problem in the U.S. as well.
This Sunday was one of our 'Dia Del Peatons,' or days when no motor traffic allow on the streets, highways, nor no passing through.  It's basically a carnival on the Prado, thousands of things to buy, to see, entertainment, climbing walls, jumps for bicycles.  There's all kinds of food, and everything else.  'Sell, sell, sell everything you stand for!' (from O' LUCKY MAN!).  The hazard, during 'Dia Del Peaton'  is children riding various wheeled things, and only God knows what they're not thinking.  You have to watch out for them, as they're just 'free as a bird out there!'
After hablamos con Darrell, I cycled around centro, only stopping for a jugo de naranja, and some chat with a young German woman.  She was passing out brochures for their organization, Instituto Cultural Boliviano Aleman (ICBA).  They teach both German and Spanish languages.  And she's been living here for five years (unusual).  I gave her our post card and 'BURN FAT, NOT OIL!'  'QUEMA GRASA!  NO PETROLIO!' (sticker for bicycles).   More contacts, now my little book full of business cards (after nearing two years).
Then I cycled back up to mi Casa De Biclicletas, at the top of Av. Los Robles.  At least today there was no motor traffic and more people walking (down -- few walk up).  I stopped at my usual 'banos spot,' in a part on Av. Villarroel.
Note, there are few public banos in South America.  I remember being new in Santiago, Chile, cycling up their little tourist hill.  Nearing the top I was looking.  I came across a Chilean who could speak English.  I asked him where?  His answer, "This is South America, go anywhere!'  And so, I squatted behind the nearest structure.  Note, Santiago, particularly bad about public toilets.  You have to find a restaurant and pay.
Back a mi casa, the clouds were gathering for the afternoon rain.  But, beyond blocking the sun, little moisture. There was some 'tormento' (lightening and thunder), but the sun returned later.  Note, this is mountain clima here, changing always changing.
I had a wonderful almuzero (lunch), a cheese sandwich with lettuce, mayo. on good bread, and chips.  But, the extra treat was some hummus I'd bought from Paula (Carolina made).
It's the little things in life that make the difference!  Like my back healing!

P.S.  But, I'm wondering about Edgar, as haven't seen him for one week?
