from SNOW FALLING ON CEDARS by David Guterson
pp.418:
"I am an old man,' Nels Gudmundsson, continued.  'Why do I say this,' moving nearer to the jurors now.  'I say this because as an older man I am prone to ponder matters of death in a way that you don't.  I am like a traveler descended from Mars who looks down in astonishment at what goes on here.  What I see is the same human frailty passed from generation to generation.  What I see is again and again is the same sad human frailty.  We hate one another, as the victims of this irrational fear.  And there is nothing in human history to suggest this is going to change!"
Herein lies the great challenge of humanity!  To change, to grow, to evolve to a higher state of grace.
How to, what to do, how to change, to grow, to evolve to a better nature?
As one person we can only try, and that begins by getting control of our ego.  This requires consciousness!  How to get that?  If only I knew, I could save humanity from itself!  But, again, it starts with becoming aware, and getting control of our egos!
Better natures, puts others before him/her, fearlessly.

I watched the Isha video...

Lee,
Well, I watched the Isha video.  But, I'm suspicious of anyone who dresses up like an Indian guru (long beard) -- has a website, and all of that (to make money).
What he spoke of in English words, has to do with objective versus subjective reality. But, it made little sense to me.
Albert Einstein wrote that imagination is more important than knowledge.
I 'believe' we create our 'wor(l)ds' from this imagination.  To me, saying I'm going to New York, creates the possibility.  Of course, in Duality, we have to act.  But, the idea to act comes from our imagination (the mind).
And the question posed, WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF LIFE?, has to be divided into two categories:   What is the purpose of life to an elephant?  To live, procreate, and to die (continue the species).  What is the purpose of human life (ego consciousness)?  To know there is something else greater than us -- I do not name this, as different for everyone.
Thus, to me there is no objective reality.
H.
P.S.  Another of these Indian gurus, Osho, popular around the world.  I used to go to one of his facilities, outside of Kathmandu, Nepal.

Do I remember walking on the beach (at One Tree Point), guest of two young men from South American, that Alvaro had found (via warmshowers.org).  They enjoyed speaking Spanish together, while all of us sipped Yerba Mate tea, the S.A. way, from the same container, using the same 'straw.'  The two S.A. engineers working at N.Z.-N. Island oil refinery (at Marsden Point).
We went to a N.Z.-friend's house on a golf course, where we played one hole miserably (first time swinging a golf club in years)!
All of this on Alvaro's and my cycling from Auckland to the very tip of the N. Island, via Waipu, Ruakaka, Whangarel (all of these Mauri names) -- points north.
But walking the beach at One Tree Point, why would I remember this?  Maybe because I've been communicating with Prof. Worzel in Waipu.  Note, he's the first in all of N.Z. that now has THE OPEN-SOURCE EVERYTHING MANIFESTO!  Go, Worzel!  Go Kim Dotcom!
Oh, so many cycling (the world) adventures -- odd scenes come to you 'out of the blue!'  In the case, out of 'The long white cloud' of N.Z.
N.Z.  two large islands, with many more surrounding.  A water person's heaven, from fishing, scuba-diving, surfing, wind-surfing, sailing, boating, cycling, hiking, untainted seafood, oceanography, volcanoes, earthquakes,  Mauris, Rugby, Old English-Scottish (Dunedin) history, mountain climbing, sky-diving, and of course world-class bungie jumping off bridges, etc.  I'm sure I forgot some…?  Snowboarding, on and on…
It still is an eco-paradise, compared to the rest of the world.
But, living there… Way, way, way, out of the way from the rest of the world… maybe this is good!  But for me, too humid (rain, etc.).  I doubt many 'Kiwis,' could live in the Atacama Desert/Chile like me.  Note, the driest place in the world!

Oh, an ill wind blew from the north yesterday afternoon!  I could barely crank up Av. Los Robles (heading directly in it).  Earlier the bad energy made me 'enfermo' (very uncomfortable) as well:  my back, a headache, weak!  I took a pain pill.
Home, in the patio, it almost blew me away, the gusts so strong, plastic bags, like birds, being tossed and turned.  I had to retreat indoors.
This must be the beginning of Spring, maybe a little early, but probably GLOBAL WARMING, as Spring only officially begins in one month, September 21st.
It must have been so strong as to disrupt my electricity here in the house, but it was back on the next morning.  A bit strange, as the neighbors not affected.
I must say, for a Third World country, the electricity is pretty much 'on!'  In the two years I've been here, only 2 outages, and only for a short time.
They can also operate airlines, and mostly on time.
Finally, about the 'ill wind,' it did bring better air from the north, where there are only villages, forests, the jungle.

Did I mention Bergman?
Anyone out there remember the Thalia movie theater, on the upper westside of Manhattan, N.Y.C.?  I think way up in the 90s, as I remember.  It was very cool!  That's what we've lost in the U.S., 'cool!'   It's now just a blatant 'crash, flash, and trash' culture!
I'm so happy I got to experience the Sixties when I was in my twenties, so 'cool' it was ('Sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll!)!  We used to smoke dope in the restaurants in Sausalito, California, tres chic at the time.  The Sixties when you could sleep on the street and not fear for your life.  When it was 'make love, not war!'  Now it's 'make war not love!'
But, getting back to Bergman, the Swedish filmmaker/artist.  The Thalia was famous for offbeat European films, like Fellini's JULIET OF THE SPIRITS.  How many people have seen it?  How 'bout 'Harold and Maude?' (U.S.)
Anyway, Bergman… I saw my first two of his at the Thalia, this with my wife at the time who was hip to Bergman (I'd never heard of him.).  But, by the time both films were over I felt like committing suicide:  dark, dreary, winter, trouble, depression, my God, I thought… This is Sweden, 'Scandoland?'
50-years later I lived in Dalsland, Sweden, and during the winter.  I wanted to experience such (little sunlight), and cycling in the snow.
Sweden, full of young beautiful women, but a 'frosty' atmosphere in the winter.  I remember going into a bicycle shop in Håverud, and the gruff, old owner, wouldn't even speak to me.  Ah, well, only a customer.
The family I lived with in Rannelanda, right out of Bergman!  Divorced, fighting over the undisciplined children.  I was happy to 'steal away,' cycling south to The Netherlands…

Secondly, at Anna/Carlos' place of business, their company-store, I meet a Bolivian man who, with a partner, just purchased THE TAVERN ON THE GREEN (tourist restaurant) in Central Park in New York City.  He's at Anna's buying handicrafts to sell in their store/restaurant.

Violent Men: An Inquiry into the Psychology of Violence by Hans Toch

Policing the Police

Training, retraining, and yet more training are not the way to stop police brutality.

Excessive Force.
No amount of officer retraining will stop police brutality as long as officers view average citizens as subhuman.
Photo illustration by James Emmerman. Photo by AFP/Getty Images
In just the last two months, Michael Brown, 18, was killed by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri; Ezell Ford, 25, was killed by a police officer in Los Angeles; Frank Alvarado, 39, was killed by a Salinas police officer; Eric Garner, 43, was killed by a New York police officer; and Marlene Pinnock, 51, was brutally beaten by a California Highway Patrol officer. All of these victims were of color, and all were unarmed.
Since these latest incidents, there has been much talk about the need for retraining officers; and there have been repeated calls from an outraged public for investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI. But training and federal investigations are ineffective responses to allegations of police misconduct. We know how to solve this epidemic; we just need to find the political will to do it.
Before they even don their uniforms, police officers receive hours and hours of training about the appropriate use of force. At the nation’s police academies, they learn how to evaluate situations where force could be an option and when it’s illegal. By the time officers are patrol-ready, they know how to use their firearms, batons, and stun guns. Yet, in response to the chokehold killing of Erin Garner, New York Police Commissioner William Bratton has called for the “retraining” of his officers. Training is, of course, essential to law enforcement. But it would be a serious and dangerous error to shrug off these deaths and beatings by cops and simply attribute them to inadequate training.
Retraining is useless when officers view people of color as “f--king animals”—the words shouted by a police officer at a crowd in Ferguson protesting the killing of Michael Brown. All of the training and retraining in the world are of no moment if officers see the people they are charged to protect and serve as subhuman and dangerous.
And while some investigations by the FBI and the Justice Department have resulted in major and positive changes to police departments, these kinds of costly inquiries frequently take years to complete. Case in point: the fatal shooting of Brown in Ferguson. The FBI has opened a civil rights inquiry in response to the public outcry, but a week after the shooting, critical information such as the name of the officer, and the number of times and where on his body Brown was shot, has not been released. This is not a training problem. It’s a transparency problem.
So, if more training and federal investigations are not the answer, what is? First, police departments must broaden the definition of reasonable use of force. In 1989 the U.S. Supreme Court in Graham v. Connor defined the reasonable use of force as force “judged from the perspective of a reasonable officer on the scene, and its calculus must embody an allowance for the fact that police officers are often forced to make split-second decisions about the amount of force necessary in a particular situation.” That definition has been interpreted narrowly by law enforcement agencies across the country to mean that the reasonableness of the force is limited to an examination of only the amount of force used in the moment. The conduct of officers right before the use of force is never examined. Under this definition, officers who provoke individuals and officers who escalate situations get a pass.
The definition of what constitutes the reasonable use of force must be expanded to include the circumstances leading up to the use of force, so that the inquiry into the misconduct sweeps in whatever the officer did prior to the decision to  use force, along with the conduct of the victim. There is precedent for this. This year, both the Seattle Police Department and the Los Angeles Police Department expanded their definitions of reasonable use of force. Now, in Seattle, officers cannot use physical force “against individuals who only verbally confront them unless the vocalization impedes a legitimate law enforcement function or contains specific threats to harm the officers or others.” And in Los Angeles, the use of deadly force must include “consideration of not only the use of deadly force itself, but also an officer’s tactical conduct and decisions leading up to the use of force when determining its reasonableness.”

Robin William's apparent 'suicide' causes me to pause to explain the nature of the creative mind…
Suicide is fairly common amongst creative people (Hemingway to Williams).  Why?
Many of these are miscalculated overdoses, Lenny Bruce for example.  And what happened to Janice Joplin and Marilyn Monroe?
Celebrity life, is life on the edge!  You get constantly 'stroked,' how great you are, inflating the Ego to a dangerous degree.  I worked with Howard Cosell, knew him personally, and a great example of someone over-compensating (had to be the center of attention all the time).
They like all the great innovators, from de Vinci, to Newton, to Einstein, they experiment with mind altering substances (with Cosell it was alcohol).  They want to soar: they reach for the stars -- most don't!  And sometimes like Icarus, 'they fly too close to the sun with wax wings'… These are highly motivated, intelligent, developed, sometimes tortured souls, seeking… I think of Vincent Van Gogh!
In Duality, what you call 'reality,' no destruction, no creation.
Creative people are extra, extra, extra sensitive.  They feel things (like pain) more acutely.  Most have such a great need to express (their egos), they're fearless in pursuing an outlet!
They say people who seek great heights, didn't get 'picked up' as infants (in their cribs).  Later in lives they over-compensate, by demanding attention (via their exploits)!  But, who can say that 'over-compensation,' isn't valuable to humanity.  Look at de Vinci and Newton.  de Vinci is even credited with designing the first bicycle!
What about J.S. Bach, who wrote a cantata, almost every day of his life.  One, JESU, OF OUR MAN'S DESIRING, we think the greatest musical composition ever!
The problem, the solution is the Ego!  A life of ego pursuits is ultimately worthless!
Some of the more evolved, Samuel Clements, and Kurt Vonnegut knew, and wrote about such at the end of their lives .  They realized the futility of such, the emptiness at the end!
It's called consciousness or 'to perceive!'
Suicide… It should be de-stigmatized, even encouraged (OHMYGOD, what are we suggesting…?)  Let's support THE HEMLOCK SOCIETY, start 'growing it!
Robin Williams?  He made us laugh!  That's enough!

And yet another example of the white man's shit-dog, dishonest behavior!
What is it about the while male that makes him such an asshole?
You should read of the atrocities the Spanish inflicted on the Indians in South America!  In Potosi, Bolivia alone, they systematically worked 3 million of the Indian workers to death -- and for money no less!  Yep, 3 MILLION!

Drinking hard liquor (vodka) at VILLA NAYJAMA, the smell-taste, takes me back to my Sigma Chin Fraternity days (Circa. late 1950s early 1960s).  This, is called 'Sense Memory' in Method Acting.
We drenched ourselves in alcohol at things like 'Boondockers,' where kegs of beer would be buried in a dry wash bed (sand), later to be pumped dry in the dark (sometimes hard to find as no lights allowed).   We groped the girls on blankets, having to stifle their giggling.  We had scouts looking out for the police, as in those days they enforced the drinking age (21).
Then there were parties on Fraternity property, near the University.  One was called 'The South Sea Islander,' where our adjacent yard was turned into a beach, and we all constructed harem tents for privacy (we encouraged the girls to wear bathing suits).  The fruit punch was distributed from surgical tubes fed from barrels on the second floor (where pledges worked to concoct and keep filled).  Any signs of police or outsiders and they were quickly pulled up.  'What alcohol, officer?'
I learned two things in five years at the University of Arizona.  How to drink alcohol and chase girls.  This lead to 'post graduate degrees' in other delights, like street drugs!
Today, at 74, I sip Roberto's Tumba-vodka cocktail, sitting in the sun. partaking of the best food in all of Bolivia.
Thanks, Roberto/Villa Nayjama!

Speaking of da biz, let's not forget, as you got me thinking (something I rarely do) the following!
But, before, more about Stanley's, #5 on my list, A CLOCKWORK ORANGE.
European films for me ultimately, 'the best' (as they invented the mediem).
Luis Bunuel's THAT OBSCURE OBJECT OF DESIRE, proving my 'Nature Joke' on us!  And currently from Espana (where we'll be cycling next May, 2015):
Pedro Almodóvar Caballero, a Spanish film director, screenwriter, producer and former actor.
Born: September 25, 1949 (age 64), Calzada de Calatrava, Spain
Awards: Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film,
Books: 'Patty Diphusa and other writings,'
Parents: Antonio Almodovar, Francisca Caballero
Siblings: Agustín Almodóvar
Movies:
'Tie me up, tie me down!' (1989)
'The Skin I Live In' (2011)
'All About My Mother' (1999)
'Volver' (2006)
'I'm So Excited' (2013)
What about the French…?
Truffant, Godard, Claude LeLuche, Luc Bresson, Alain Resnais, Clause Chabol, and Luis Malle's A MURMUR OF THE HEART, about incest (mother and son),  Saw 'incest,' Dick, in the N.W. revival house.  Ah, Portland, Oregon, many epiphanies!
Most recently from the French (Jean-Pierre Jeunet), AMELIA, a movie I fell in love with for its cleverness!
'Hollywood,' so direct and 'in your face,' nothing left to the imagination.  'Hollywood' audiences 'dumbed down' in the process (can't 'imagine,' when Albert said this the most important thing!)
Anyway, you got me started on the motion picture, which has had great influence on my life beginning with John Ford's-John Wayne's westerns (Fox Theater, Tucson, Arizona, circa, 1947).
I could write a book…

Mas,

Mas,
I have a request.
I have an idea for the San Paulo Games, Brazil, 2016.  It's called HANDS AROUND SOUTH AMERICA, something that might be incorporated in the Opening Ceremonies -- maybe still enough time.
Would you know the name/email address to/for the person in charge?  I would send them an email message explaining, or it could go through you.  I assume this person understands English?
I'm living in Bolivia, at the moment.
Gracias,

Hutch

Now, even more estranged from Nature!
Oh, woe be unto us!

P.S.  I'm still debating in my own mind if humanity deserves to survive…?

Sally,

Sally,
I'm sure you remember all those automobile trips when we were children.  I just 'flashed' on waking up from a nap, lulled to sleep by the whoosh of air, the movement, sailing over ribbons of asphalt -- that feeling of being safe, yet the adventure of the road.
Since, I've always been able to doze off in both, especially trains.  Note, I took many train trips in China, as their system good and extensive.  I think there's a 'bullet' train now between Beijing and Shanghai.
This summer cycling around Europa, then the Trans-Siberian RR across Russia -- Russia moving through time and space.
And again, the invitation to join Rotraut Boyens in an automobile (she doesn't cycle at 77 years of age).
I know… You're mired with an ailing husband.  Bring him along too… What a way to 'shed the body,' while still living…
I can almost guarantee you, I won't die in a hospital, the memories of mother still strong!
Love,

SOUTH AMERICA MANIFESTO: 'HASA'

07a0814 BLOK
SOUTH AMERICA MANIFESTO:  'HASA'
Nationalism, borders and flags, is the problem, and everywhere in the world!
It's so evident in South America, where countries have a history of war and distrust (Note:  Colombia had something like 49 civil wars during the 19th C.)!  This loss of trust creates corruption, mismanagement, and lawlessness!  Brazil versus Argentina, Uruguay in the middle.  Chile and Bolivia war over the Oceano Pacifico.
Nationalism is how 'the owners' attempt to control its citizens.  Stupidly, unevolved, we are duped into dying for them!
It's us that are stupid!  But what's the solution?
Education, growth, evolution, ultimately consciousness in the long run, if possible…
In the short term, the illusion of freedom, reality grinding us, 'the grist for their mills' (Capitalism)!
Actually, borders and flags, are manipulated by the ultimate power now, corporations ('the new owners').  The corpos. our 'masters' the people robotic consumers (the 'slaves' whose 'chains' are those little screens).
'Pogo,' a comic strip possum, created by John Kelly, wrote/said, WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY AND HE IS US!  How prophetic, because in one sentence (9 English words) Kelly 'hit the nail right on the head!'  We're the problem, all of us!
'Ke Garne?'
'Que Hacer?'
What to do?
First, we have to admit such, rather than always projecting evil onto the other person, country, culture, etc.  We have to stop blaming others.
Secondly, we have to accept responsibility for what humanity has wrought (a deteriorating situation in the world in 2014).
Thirdly, we must ultimately LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF, or go extinct!
Is this possible?  Only time will tell, as it slips from the hourglass like so much sand!
HANDS AROUND SOUTH AMERICA (HASA) is one attempt!  To show the world, via the Summer Olympic Games in Brasil (2016), that we have the will to overcome our old ways and preserve a better future for our children!
Note:  During the 'Opening Ceremonies' of the Olympic Games, live on TV, hundreds of South Americans will join hands across every country border!  This to demonstrate we're all together in South America.  'United we stand!  Divided we fall!'*
Let us fulfill, some 200 years later, Simon Bolivar's dream of Unification!

Sidney Kubrick is the not the director of my three, 'all time best,' motion pictures:
1.  THE ENIGMA OF KASPAR HAUSER, Werner Herzog (who I believe is the greatest filmmaker, ever, even surpassing Kurosawa, etc.)
2.  SEVEN BEAUTIES, Lina Wertmueller
3.  O LUCKY MAN, Lindsay Anderson (this to me, a work of art)
In the U.S. let us not forget Terry Malick, from Texas no less.  His BADLANDS, was the best first mopic., in history.
The Cohen Brothers, some...
John Sayles, a New Jersey guy I once met?  Truly an Indie filmmaker, having never moved to 'Hollywood.'
Spielberg, Lucas, all commercial 'Hollywood ka-ka'… 'Hacks' really.

For you sailing aFISHcianadoes…
from Marquez's THE GENERAL IN HIS LABYRINTH (about Simon Bolivar)
pp. 244;
I loved this description of a sailing vessel:
"The channels through Cienaga Grande, the great swamp, were slow and hot, giving off fatal vapors.  But, they survived, making it to the sea.  There they took advantage of the first trade winds from the north.
A cabin was ready for Bolivar on the well-maintained, square-sailed brigantine, which was clean and comfortable, had a lighthearted way in water!
The high-spirited brigantine, almost flying over the water with silent sails, was quick and stable!"

Note:  'brigantines,' the favorite of pirates, thus the name.

Usually the sun turns winter into summer (verano) here in Cochabamba!

On what the last sequence in '2001,' symbolizes…

On what the last sequence in '2001,' symbolizes…
Dick, my 'take' on such (On what the last sequence in '2001,' symbolizes…) is simple:  It symbolizes SINGULARITY, having traveled through time to another plane/dimension.

H.

040814 BLOK
What do yo suppose the Universe 'thinks' about itself?  Do you suppose it knows it came about with something called 'the BIG BANG?'  That it's expanding at an ever-increasing rate?  We wonder if it's worried about this?
Our sun, a star… Do you suppose it knows about 'sun spots,' or that 'fact' it's a 'fusion factory,' but that it will 'die out,' in another 4.5 billion years?  No doubt it laments about its 'short' life!
A tree in the forest… Does it call itself a 'tree?'  Does it know about the 'forest?'  Does it know its age, from its rings?  When this tree finally dies, falls over onto mother earth, do the other trees mourn?  Was there a 'sound,' when it hit the ground?
Great questions are of more value than great answers!
Of course, we're making a point with all this, these questions.
It is we human beings that have created this, what we call a 'Universe!' and with just English 'wor(l)ds!'  By naming things, we create them!  Read Owen Barfield's SAVING THE APPEARANCES!
A bird doesn't know it exists in any language.  It just lives (still in 'The Garden of Eden')!
Birds, animals (dolphins, whales, wolves, etc.), they all have their ways of communicating with each other. Do 'they' exist without us as observers?  We think not!  There is no objective reality, no universal truths (in our 'wor(l)d')!
And if there isn't we're (the human race) in a 'heap of trouble,' as we're thinking the wrong things, creating death and destruction.  If fact, we're self-destructing!  We're thinking ourselves right out of existence!  But, maybe this is good as part of THE PLAN?   No doubt the animals will rejoice (they don't need us)!   Remember, NATURE 'BATS' LAST!
If the Human Race is responsible for its own demise, maybe this is part of THE CREATOR'S PLAN?  Wow, what a thought!  It would mean that all this human fomented violence and destruction going on currently in the world (2014), serves a great purpose:  reducing over population, and ultimately returning nature to Nature!  Maybe the next 'generation' of humanoids, will have more consciousness, and foment creation, rather than destruction.  In Duality, you can't have 'won' without the other!  Ask, Lord Shiva!
Our solution at 'Tantric Taoism,' is to get beyond Duality and transit to Singularity, while we still have a body (ego consciousness)!  We believe this is the challenge for Humanity!
Join us!

Read Marquez's description of Simon Bolivar

Read Marquez's description of Simon Bolivar in his book, THE GENERAL IN HIS LABYRINTH:
pp. 76:
"She would always remember him (Bolivar) as a bony, pale man who seemed much older than his thirty-two years, who had coarse sideburns and a mustache of a mulatto;  hair that hung down to his shoulders.  Like all young men of the native aristocracy, he was dressed in English style:  a white cravat, a jacket too heavy for the climate, and a romantic's gardenia in his lapel.  Dressed in this fashion on a libertine night in 1810 (something like 204 years ago if my math is correct?) he was mistaken by a whore in a London brother for a Greek pederast!"
Wow!

Note, but the chosen word, 'love' is really 'desire' and ultimately Nature's Joke on us all!  Designed, of course, to proliferate the species.  But, 'She's' been too successful!  Now, the challenge is too many of us!

An interesting description of Simon Bolivar
from THE GENERAL IN HIS LABYRINTH, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
pp.49
"Boliva wore the helmet of a Russian Dragoon, a mule driver's espadrilles, a blue tunic with red-gold buttons, and he carried the black banner of a privateer, hoisted on a plain man's lance.  At the top the picture of the skull and crossed bones in blood.  It read LIBERTY OR DEATH!"
These kinds of people, the ones that try to change the world are generally eccentrics.

02 August 2014 Stephanie,

02 August 2014
Stephanie,
What is your idea about living in the U.S.?  You're the 'lowai' there, foreigners (Note, as I was the 'lowai' in China).
All the stuff you get from me is of a native citizen, one whose family (Leftwich) goes back to settling the State of Virginia in the 17th Century.  So, we probably look at the situation differently, not only for that reason, but for the difference in our ages.  You somewhere around 30, and me approaching 75!
The idea of the United States of America, was a good one, with a Constitution by and for the people (everybody, not just the 01%)!
I knew freedom and trust when growing up!
It all began to change with Ronald Reagan in 1980.  (Note:  Read THE REAGAN PARADIGM, By David J. Carter and F.A. Hutchison, Polebridge Press, circa. 1986).  It's been 'downhill' ever since, and then catapulting after 9/11.
We've managed somehow, because of our lust of money, managed mind you, to enslave ourselves!  This, truly amazing to me!  How?  Why?  You probably don't even know about such (coming from China).
It seems Capitalism brings out the worst in us, not the best!  How, why did this happen?
We're undeveloped as a species!  We seem to enjoy inflicting pain on each other, neglecting, killing children!   I'm beginning to think we don't deserve to survive as a species, if we don't change!
Right now we're destroying ourselves, polluting ourselves out of existence!  Why do you think we're 'hell bent' on the planet Mars?
We're cutting down the trees in the Amazon River Basin for toilet paper… The trees contributing much to the oxygen we breathe… STOP USING TOILET PAPER!
There are teenage girls in Bolivia that don't know the English alphabet!  How can you make them understand (in Spanish) to MAKE LOVE NOT BABIES!  Note:  I saw this on a t-shirt in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
Is there time enough for the majority of us to evolve before we 'off' ourselves?  Quien sabe?
I'm personally not sanguine about humanity, as 'I' know human history!  I also know that Nature 'bats last!'
Finally, the great philosophical question, I've asked many times before… WHEN THE LAST HOMO SAPIEN EXPIRES, WILL WE HAVE BEEN HERE AT ALL?
H.
